Problem
Mentoring 40+ students across 10 CTF teams meant everyone needed somewhere safe and consistent to practise — isolated, resettable, and realistic — without each student having to configure a lab from scratch.
Approach
- Containerised a set of deliberately vulnerable challenges so each one spins up clean and isolated.
- Grouped challenges by category (web, Active Directory, forensics, crypto) matching the competition formats students were preparing for.
- Wrote hands-on labs and walkthroughs that build from fundamentals to full exploitation, so beginners and advanced students could use the same platform.
